Educational Philosophies:

I believe that we are all responsible to help develop inquiring, knowledgeable, caring young people who create a better and more peaceful world. As parents, we are given the unique privilege to educate our children to develop their God-given potential.

Educational Interests:

I enjoy learning from teachers and parents to develop new ways to promote inquiry-based learning. I am fascinated by the plasticity of the developing brain, and enjoy listening for better understanding.

Instructional Specialties:

I enjoy developing positive working relationships. Unique learners, utilizing solution orientated strategies, creative problem solving, and meeting individual needs when working with a range of home schooling philosophies are areas of interest.

Areas I Do Not Cover:

I recommend that you enroll with another teacher for high school math and science.[nbsp] For students that are comfortable with their subject areas and/or have skilled local help, I can supervise nearly all high school courses.

Educational Philosophy:

I believe in two core truths about learning - the family is the child’s first teacher, and that the child learns best when those they love honour their need to learn and grow.

I love to support families exploring learner-led approaches (such as unschooling, Waldorf, and Montessori). I believe educating the whole child beyond just academics – incorporating art, music, nature, and social learning opportunities – allows them to reach their highest potential.

I am a trauma-informed, inclusive educator and believe in designing educational opportunities that meet learners where they are at and want to go, and not where they “should” be.

Educational Interests:

Oh goodness, I have too many to list! I taught Kindergarten for eight years, so I have a soft spot for early primary students and students of all ages that want to learn through play and exploration.

Instructional Specialties

My specialty is language learning – from language immersion to learning a fourth or fifth language, I love to support families in adding languages to their learning environment. I also specialize in early learning, Montessori pedagogy, and neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Areas I Do Not Cover:

While I am blessed to have a Secondary math and science teacher for a husband, I do not cover those areas of the curriculum myself. I am happy to refer you to teachers who can support your learning in those areas.

Educational Philosophy:

Learning can be fun, especially when it is tailored to our interests and needs. Just as everyone is unique, so too is a learner’s educational journey. My role as teacher is to be part of the team to help plan an education uniquely designed for a specific learner.

I also believe that while each education can be supported by a teacher connected with a school, family is truly the most important first teacher of any learner. l love working with families and supporting them in the educational journey of their learner.

Educational Interests:

I have a passion for languages- I have taught Kindergarten to Grade 8 classes in Core French and French Immersion for the past 12 years.

Incorporating nature and the outdoors in learning is a newer interest of mine. Experiencing first-hand weather, dirt, animals, etc. truly adds to amazing hands-on learning opportunities.

I love art- making it, admiring it, learning about it and incorporating it into daily life and cross-curricular learning projects. Art can be used in all sorts of subjects.

I am also a huge fan of self-regulation tools and strategies to help develop and strengthen the abilities and skills needed to learn most effectively.

French as a second language, cross-curricular curriculum (especially embedding Science and Socials into English or French Language Arts), and self-regulation.

Secondary math and science. I am happy to refer you to teachers who can support your learning in those areas.

In education, I believe in fostering an environment where each student is valued and nurtured, recognizing their unique gifts and potential. Rooted in Christian faith, my philosophy centers on love, compassion, and service, aiming to cultivate minds, hearts, and souls, shaping individuals who positively impact their communities. By fostering critical thinking, creativity, and empathy, I aim to empower students to become resilient, compassionate individuals prepared to navigate the complexities of the modern world while also molding characters for the eternal kingdom.

Educational Interests:

My husband and I share a deep passion for hiking and backpacking, immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature. With our toddler, we let him experience God's creation as frequently as possible and enjoy seeing the world anew through his eyes. We look forward to when we can start homeschooling our children and can incorporate nature as the ideal educational setting for our son. Gardening is a family activity, nurturing plants, and studying agriculture, relishing in the process of watching our food grow. Additionally, my fascination with exploring new cultures and diversities fuels my constant thirst for learning.

Educational Philosophy:

I believe a desire to learn is inherent in everyone. The learning environment and experiences are our greatest educators and can be curated and cultivated to meet individual needs. I am always learning and communicate openly about new knowledge or perspectives that may be challenging or changing my teaching and learning praxis. To me, collaboration is the belief that the very best option is the one we find together.

Montessori, Classical Education, current and innovative STEM learning experiences, outdoor and environmental education, learning from experts.

Lifelong learning happens when the children are engaged and challenged in an environment where they feel the safest and most comfortable. A supportive and welcoming community also plays a key role in developing the whole child as an extension of the home learning environment. With a child-led, trauma-informed approach to authentic learning, a personalized and flexible learning plan meets learners where they are. Educational Interests:

As a parent of twice-exceptional children, I highly value inclusive, equitable education and affirm neurodiversity. In my teaching practice, I follow the principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) and Differentiated Instruction to help support each learner's unique human needs.

Although my primary degree is in Secondary Education - English, I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Inclusive Education (Special Education), and I would love to work with and learn from children with neurodivergence. Earlier in my teaching career, I received my Postgraduate Diploma in English Language Teaching, ECE (and Inclusive Child Care) Diploma, and my AMI Montessori Diploma.

Areas I Do Not Cover:

I do not teach Pre-Calculus, Calculus or Statistics.[nbsp] Students are paired with one of our specialist teachers for these subjects.

Educational Philosophy:

Home learning is truly a beautiful gift. I believe learning doesn’t begin and end with a school day, rather, it exists and extends through all aspects of life. I am here to help empower you as a parent and role model for your children as you guide them through their own unique learning journeys.

Educational Interests:

I love creating positive learning routines and adaptions for each student to feel successful and confident. I love to help parents feel confident in teaching the core subjects and essential skills needed for students to progress. I see value in many learning styles and just want the best for each individual family. I love fostering learning through daily lives and family adventures as well! As a mother of two young daughters, I love to involve play and movement into learning whenever possible.

Instructional Specialties

Early literacy and numeracy are areas I am passionate about and have extensive training in. My previous years of experience have been spent in roles working with highly diverse classrooms, struggling readers and writers, students with exceptionalities, and also coaching a variety of sports. I am very flexible and will adapt to best meet the needs of each of my students and families.

Second languages and high school calculus.

Educational Philosophies:

My educational philosophy has been greatly impacted in having taught in six countries and through varied mediums including in person, online and with students of all ages. During my time as a home learning consultant, and as a parent, I have discovered children learn best when engaged, excited and curious. I have seen the success of interest-led learning firsthand with my own children where fascination, inquisitiveness, and a need to understand drive the desire to learn. This is a big part why I support and see the value in unschooling and strongly believe personal meaning making is nonlinear and is impacted by how we engage with the world around us, with children learning when they are ready, not when they are under stress or disinterested. Learning activities need to make sense to all learners and be relevant to our daily lives. As a strong advocate of home-learning and unschooling I resonate with Montessori’s model that supports the child in their learning through freedom and choice whenever possible. Learning should be fun, and I encourage learning through play, curiosity, testing and by making mistakes and this is the same for adults as well as children. Whilst I love and support alternative learning models, I have continued my own learning over the past decade and completed my MA in Applied Theatre at UVic and my PhD at UNSW (Australia). I am now working on my MEd at TRU where I also work as a Faculty Member in the English Department.

Educational Philosophy:

A learning community, whether that is a family at home, a co-op of home learners, a traditional classroom, or any other group of people learning together, is much like the body of Christ: each member has his or her own gifts, perspectives, and ideas that, when working in unity with the rest of the group, is vitally important to the building of knowledge. I believe that learning is ingrained in us and we are meant to learn from each other and from the world around us; teachers and parents are meant to help guide that building of knowledge and foster the interests held by our students and children, giving them direction to use their talents and insights to serve others and themselves as they venture into adulthood.

Educational Interests:

Breaking our cultural fear of mathematics by building number sense and bringing in real-life math problems; project-based and place-based learning; and integration of the arts into learning. Most of all, I am interested in learning about what my students are interested in!

Instructional Specialties

I love teaching all subjects in elementary and middle school (except for actually teaching PE) but K-9 math and writing are my niche. Grade 10-12 Humanities would also be in my wheelhouse.

Areas I Do Not Cover:

High school science, tech, or math. My French is very rusty and my Spanish even more so; therefore, an alternative teacher with whom the student can converse in person would be best for second language lessons.

I will be available for video or phone calls between 2 and 4pm, and I check emails daily.

Educational Philosophy:

As a life-long learner I want to encourage that love of learning in my students as well. Learning at home is an opportunity to embrace children’s interests and learning styles and individualize the learning to help students be successful. My goal is to support families in finding the educational materials, learning strategies and routines that work for them while meeting BC curriculum requirements.

Educational Interests:

I live with my husband and three children in Williams Lake, BC where we homeschool our three kids, garden and raise animals on our small farm.[nbsp] I really value the natural learning that happens in daily life: cooking, baking, reading, spending time in nature, gardening, playing board games, building forts, taking care of animals, etc. We do a lot of hands-on, multi-aged learning and strive to incorporate a lot of reading, art, music and nature-based learning into our days.

Educational Philosophy:

My purpose at Pathways is to prepare my students for their future success. As a math/physical sciences teacher with several years of experience teaching at the university level, I understand the problems and pitfalls encountered by many students in transitioning from high-school math and science subjects to college courses. I believe that this has given me a unique insight in to how to help high-school students develop the necessary skills to succeed in post-secondary math, science and engineering courses.
